T2Smiles ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Smile Timer mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.

Important: Smile Timer is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers or third parties, except for limited API calls to Google's Gemini service for generating fun facts (see Third-Party Services section below).

Information We Collect

We collect NO personal information. Smile Timer operates entirely locally on your device. Specifically:

We do not collect names, email addresses, or contact information
We do not collect device identifiers or location data
We do not collect usage analytics or crash reports
We do not collect any data that could identify you or your child

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Smile Timer stores the following information locally on your device to provide app functionality:

Brushing Activity Data: Streak count, total number of brushing sessions, number of brushes completed today, and timestamps of your last brushing session
Sticker Collection: List of unlocked sticker IDs that you have earned through app usage
Mascot Customization: Your preferences for customizing Sparky the mascot (selected hat, glasses, and outfit options)

All of this data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage) and is never transmitted to external servers.

How We Use Your Information

We do not use any personal information because we do not collect any. All data you generate while using Smile Timer (brushing statistics, unlocked stickers, mascot customizations) is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage) and is used solely to provide app functionality, such as:

Tracking your brushing streaks and daily goals
Displaying your unlocked sticker collection
Remembering your mascot customization preferences

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only: All data is stored locally on your device using React Native's AsyncStorage
No External Servers: We do not use any external servers, cloud storage, or databases for storing your app data
No Data Transmission: Your app data (brushing statistics, stickers, customizations) is never transmitted over the internet
Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features
Complete Control: You have complete control over your data at all times

Third-Party Services

Google Gemini API: Smile Timer uses Google's Gemini API to generate fun dental facts and encouraging messages displayed in the app. When generating these messages:

We send a generic prompt to Google's servers requesting a child-friendly dental fact or message
We do not send any personal information, user data, or identifying information in these requests
Google may log these API calls according to their own privacy policy
If the API is unavailable, the app uses pre-programmed fallback messages stored locally

We do not use any other third-party services that would collect or process your data, including:

No analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.)
No crash reporting services
No advertising networks
No social media integrations
No cloud storage services
No authentication services

Children's Privacy

Smile Timer is designed to help users develop good dental hygiene habits. We take children's privacy seriously:

We do not collect any information about children
All app data (brushing statistics, stickers, customizations) remains on your device only
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not collecting any data from or about children
Parents and guardians maintain complete control over the app and any data stored on the device
The only external communication is to Google's Gemini API for fun facts, which does not include any personal or identifying information

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal information, traditional privacy rights do not apply. However, you have complete control over your locally stored data:

Data Deletion: You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app from your device
Data Reset: You can reset your progress and statistics by uninstalling and reinstalling the app
App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the app removes all stored data (brushing statistics, stickers, customizations) from your device

Data Retention

Data is stored locally on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app

We do not retain any copies of your data
We have no access to your data since it never leaves your device

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Provide notice through the App Store update description
Post the updated policy in the app (if technically feasible)

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
