MealSync is designed to help schools and daycares coordinate meal counts quickly and accurately. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the app’s functionality:

  • User Role: Whether you are a teacher or a cook
  • Classroom Assignment: For teachers, the classroom you are associated with
  • Organization Membership: The daycare or school you are connected to via a join code
  • Meal Counts: The number of students and teachers submitted for each meal (breakfast, lunch, snack)

2. Information We Do Not Collect

MealSync is intentionally designed to avoid collecting sensitive or personal data. We do not collect:

  • Names or personal information about students
  • Personal information about children
  • Location data
  • Payment or financial information
  • Advertising identifiers or analytics tracking data

3. How We Use Information

The information collected is used solely to:

  • Allow teachers to submit meal counts
  • Provide cooks with real-time totals across classrooms
  • Ensure accurate meal preparation and coordination
  • Maintain and improve app functionality

4. Data Storage and Security

MealSync uses Supabase (a hosted PostgreSQL database) to store data securely. All data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

5. Authentication and Access

Users access MealSync using a join code provided by their organization. Each device is assigned an internal user ID stored locally on the device.

We do not require email addresses, passwords, or personal identity information to use the app.

6. Data Retention

Data is stored as long as the organization remains active. If you would like data removed, please contact your organization’s administrator.

7. Third-Party Services

MealSync uses Supabase to provide backend infrastructure and data storage.

8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

MealSync is used by school and daycare staff only and is not intended for use by children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Additionally, the app does not collect any identifiable data about students.

If you believe that any personal information about a child has been inadvertently collected, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
